Description
The music should flow gently and easily within the 5 note hand positions – mostly use a singing RH with consistent weighting from note to note, and a soft LH accompaniment. Dynamics and tempo changes need careful attention, especially at the end as the music gently transports the baby into peaceful sleep. This is an excellent piece to get beginner students lifting their eyes away from the hands and up to the sheet music. Elements of RH wrist rotation and circling, finger pedalling, soft LH chords, and good balance between the hands – provide a basis for the development of a sound piano technique.
