‘My Gift To You’ is a love song I wrote for Jane, my beloved partner for 35 years – I will always miss her loving presence in my life. Its’ simple but appealing melody offers the vocalist some expressive romanticism and rubato opportunities. As usual, phrase ends should be tapered a little, and don’t over-do the vibrato on the longer notes. Vocal range is from C4 to E5 (middle C = C4), so best suited to a mezzo-soprano or tenor.
