Description
This fast moving unaccompanied flute duet is an exercise in connection and non-verbal communication between the flute players – the entries, exits, tempo changes & pauses are best navigated with eye contact or conducting cues mostly coming from a slight lifting of the head or even just the eyebrows to indicate an upbeat or a cut off or whatever is needed to keep the ensemble work well connected. You will develop your own sign language as a flute duet team.
In this piece, visualise the flight of an eagle – the chromatic lift-off at the beginning, and the gliding main melody as it develops, expands and repeats.
