Description
Farewell is a nostalgic work capturing the many emotions of saying goodbye, to be interpreted and expressed as you feel is appropriate to the occasion. Use a delicately weighted singing RH, soft LH accompaniment, and plenty of rubato to allow some creative shaping of phrases, especially at those perfect cadence points (V-I progressions). Bar 45 to the end is the most challenging passage, with the G major theme previously stated more simply at bar 22, is embellished and layered more fully for a rich emotive tonality. Try not to overplay the repeating A in the deep bass that underpins the syncopated melodic chords in thirds.
